Great Vintage Furniture Finds

6 Jun

I stumbled upon this amazing web site, Fabulous Finds, while searching for a vintage cabinet/future bathroom vanity (have I mentioned that we’re renovating our master bathroom, finishing our basement, and getting our roof replaced ALL AT ONCE? Oy).

Anyway, Sharon, the site owner, collects vintage and antique furniture pieces that she offers for fantastic prices. She’s based locally in the DC area and holds “open house” barn sales several times a year. You can also make an appointment to check out her stuff in person. A few of my favorites. . .

How great would that giraffe chair look with a bright, glossy coat of red or green paint?! I would snatch it up in a second if I had anywhere to actually use it. And that pale blue dresser would be adorable in a nursery!

If you’re in the market for some vintage pieces to round out your home, definitely pay this site a visit!

Vintage-Framed Photography

30 Apr

We hit up the Fairfax Fine Arts Festival this past weekend and bought an awesome new print for our dining room. The artist, Dan Albright, takes photos all over the world and then expertly mats and frames them in antique and vintage picture frames. My dad is a framer, so I know how unique these frames are—and how expensive they can be. So I thought the $65 price tag was a good deal.

We loved this quote from W.C. Fields and thought the picture would look great next to our bar. Mr. Albright even allowed us to switch the print to a different frame that we thought would match our house a little better. I still have my eye on one of his other prints in a cherry red vintage frame—could be a great pop of color in our new master bathroom!

If you’re looking for some unique framed photography for your home, definitely check out Dan Albright Studio!

A Sweet, Storied Baby Shower

3 Apr

My friend, Lolly, is due with her first baby in May. So this weekend, we celebrated her and baby Sarah June (how cute is that name? don’t you just love it?!). The shower was held at the home of a friend in Charlottesville, VA, and the house itself would have been worthy of a blog post—the entire home looked like it was from the pages of a magazine (or one huge Pinterest pin), gorgeous! But back to the shower. The theme of the shower was “Sarah’s Story Begins,” and the feel was sweet vintage. Our hostesses, Amanda and Erin, did a fabulous job on the decorations and the food, from the hand-sewn circle garland to the mini TBM skewers. They managed to pull off a delicate girly shower with only the slightest hint of pink.
